Top Gear Festival to bring down Durban with extreme entertainment!

Visitors to this year’s Top Gear Festival – powered by Shell V-Power are in for a round of extreme entertainment and adrenaline-filled motoring action.

On June 15-16 2013, Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium and Street Circuit will be transformed into a Top Gear fan’s nirvana. Highlights will include world famous presenters; guest drivers including two-time Formula One World Champion Mika Häkkinen – who will be interviewed live on stage in the Ultimate Village situated near the Kings Park Pool – as well as a number of legends and celebrities all doing what they do best.

Top Gear Festival Content Manager, Ken Watson said: “In true Top Gear style, one should expect the unexpected. Without giving too much away it’s almost guaranteed that flames and explosives will feature in some way or another.  The 2013 edition of the festival will in no way be like that seen last year as the plan this time is to explore means to entertain the thousands of expected crowds in bigger and better ways.”

The Top Gear Live Stadium Show

The Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and of course The Stig are coming back with a bang! Bigger and better than before, the all-new Live Stadium Show will not disappoint in delivering world class acts and charismatic antics that the Top Gear Festival is known for.

Top Gear Festival Street Circuit

This year’s Top Gear Festival Street Circuit brings more excitement, not only with a new layout – which provides for greater overtaking possibilities and improved viewing opportunities – but also with the return of exciting features such as Franschhoek Motor Museum 90th Le Mans tribute, all the antics of The Top Gear Street Circuit Show, South African Motorsport Racing, Car parades and more!

The Stars in Cars

A host of celebrity drivers, headed this year by Two-Time Formula One World Champion, Mika Häkkinen, will tear around the Top Gear Festival Street Circuit and is certain to exhilarate the senses with tyre screeching, sideways action and plenty of speed.

The Shell Stunt School

Back by popular demand in the Action Zone, the Shell Stunt School, will feature professional drivers piloting vehicles through jaw dropping manoeuvres.

Shell will also feature other activities including a Simulator, Pitstop with tyre changing challenges, Ferrari merchandise on sale, and a scalextric. You can also visit the Shell photobooth stand and experience the new Shell mobile application at the Action Zone.

The Motoring Pavilion

The Top Gear Motoring Pavilion will feature SA’s top manufactures and best in all things motoring including the latest in car accessories, technology, safety and exciting features.

Get to see our Top Gear Festival Exhibitors showcase their brands at their stands throughout the Festival. Shell has also extended its exhibition presence within the motoring expo to include its pit stop tyre change challenge, remote control car track, racing simulator and photo booth as well as new attractions including a mini-theatre, refreshments and Ferrari merchandise.

Go-Kart Track

Get ready to speed your way to victory in a dedicated Go-Kart track featuring the latest karts for your driving pleasure! Come and test your skills and prove that records can be broken. Tickets are R100 per person and will be available on the day at the Go-Kart track.

Other features at the Top Gear Festival will also include The Pit Lanes, Freestyle Motorcross Bikes and MSA (Motor Sport SA). Throughout the day there will be a full timetable of special appearances by talent as they participate and commentate on a number of special Top Gear Festival challenges.
