Theft arrest in Umgeni Park

A man has been arrested after stealing  a cellular phone from a person in Umgeni Park this afternoon.

Marshall Security armed reaction officers were alerted to an incident where a man had allegedly stolen the cell phone from a patron of the popular bird park in the parking area on Riverside Road.

The member of the public involved was able to positively identify the suspect who was found with the phone in his possession. He was arrested on site and handed over to Durban North SAPS for further processing.

Unfortunately the complainant later opted not to press charges against the man and he was subsequently released from police custody.
