ATM Set Alight in Tongaat

At approximately 22:52 last night (Sunday) members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to a shopping complex on Gopalall Hurbans Road in Tongaat after receiving reports of an ATM bombing.

Upon arrival a Standard Bank ATM was found to have been set alight. Witnesses reported a white Toyota Quantum had fled from the complex shortly after the ATM was set alight. The vehicle was seen heading in the direction of Verulam on the R102. It could not be established if the cash machine was bombed or set alight or if any money had been stolen. The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

Authorities are investigating further.
