Today, 28 November 2016, at approximately 04:30, the police in Dientjie received a complaint about a business robbery at Blyde River Forever Resort. They swiftly drove to the scene and on their arrival, they found a silver grey Renault Clio blaze fitting the description given to them. The police ordered all five occupants to come out of the vehicle and lie on the ground. The suspects complied but except for one who pulled out a firearm, pointed it towards the police and in response, the man was shot and wounded. The dedicated members managed to arrest all the suspects, two females as well as three males all aged between 18 and 34.
After the arrests, police discovered that the suspects had dismounted a safe belonging to the resort and It is suspected that the confiscated explosives were intended to open the safe. The injured suspect and the guards were taken to hospital for medical attention. The suspect is under police guard.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Dientjie Periodical Court tomorrow, 29 November 2016, facing charges of business robbery, possession of explosives, possession of and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
