The question arises whether it is still safe to visit many of our tourist attractions? Consequently, here are a few tips to consider:
- Don’t alight from your vehicle at a place that looks suspect.
- Only get out if there are other visitors in the area, therefore avoid quiet times.
- Be on the lookout for suspect people. Don’t engage in conversation with just anyone.
- Ensure that your vehicle is locked when leaving it and don’t leave your possessions visible.
- Always walk in a group of two or more.
- Put the CrisisOnCall emergency number (0800 101 911) on speed dial so that you can react faster in an emergency.
- Beware of informal traders. They often distract you while their accomplices do the stealing. Stay alert at all times.
- Should you have children with you, ensure that they do not wander off or run around. While distracting children increase the opportunity for criminals to take a chance, the environment can also be dangerous for children.
Always read the warning signs erected at tourist sites and obey the directions thereon.
