Supermarket robbery suspects rapidly bust

Last night, armed men who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash robbed a supermarket at Starwood in Phoenix. A case of robbery was opened at the Phoenix police station for investigation.

Police officers from the Phoenix Trio Task Team swiftly responded, searching for the suspects. Their search led them to Amaoti where five men aged between 26 and 40 were arrested. They will be charged for robbery and will appear at the Verulam Magistrates Court soon. It is alleged that on 30 November 2020 at 19:30, the armed men entered the supermarket and demanded cash. They fled the scene in their getaway bakkie.

Police recovered two pistols, a toy gun, cellphones and some of the stolen cash. The getaway vehicle was also recovered.
