Hyundai SA Rides the Waves with World Surfing Champion

Hyundai Automotive South Africa is proud to announce its luxury mobility support for world surfing sensation Molly Picklum, as she competes in the Corona Cero Open J-Bay, currently taking place in Jeffreys Bay.

This event is part of the 2025 World Surf League Championship Tour. Picklum is currently leading the world’s best surfers and is carrying the yellow jersey as the leader at this event. The Corona Cero Open J-Bay is the tenth event on the WSL Championship Tour.

To support her dynamic lifestyle both on and off the waves, the Korean automaker has sponsored her with the brand-new, award-winning Hyundai SANTA FE Hybrid Elite AWD – underscoring the company’s commitment to empowering elite athletes.

“We are delighted to support Molly Picklum, a global surfing trailblazer, with our recently launched Hyundai SANTA FE Hybrid,” said Stanley Anderson, CEO Hyundai Automotive South Africa. “Her tenacity, skill and positivity mirror the spirit of our all-new SANTA FE Hybrid, which include versatility, high performance and sophistication.”

“I’m so grateful to be partnered with the Hyundai family. Their support allows me to chase my dreams on tour and push my surfing to new levels. It’s amazing to align with a brand that shares my values and passion for performance, innovation, and the environment,” stated Picklum. “I always look forward to coming to Jeffreys Bay and am thankful for the support from Hyundai Automotive South Africa!”

Picklum has quickly risen through the ranks of professional surfing. Since qualifying for the WSL Championship Tour in 2022, she has earned major wins at the recent 2025 Vivo Rio Pro in Saquarema, Brazil as well as the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach (2023 and 2024).

In 2024, she earned global acclaim with a perfect 10 at Pipeline – a historic first in women’s competition. These performances vaulted her into a top world ranking and firmly established her as a force in elite surfing.
