Morningside Drug Dealer behind bars and drug-manufacturing chemicals and drugs seized

The KwaZulu-Natal police’s determination to weed out the illicit drug trade continues to yield excellent results in and around the province. This is proved by yet another drug bust in Morningside, Durban yesterday, 17 February 2014 where drug-manufacturing chemicals and drugs worth about R80 000 were seized. A 25-year-old man was arrested and will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today, 18 February 2014 facing dealing in drugs.

The KwaDukuza Cluster Task Team received information of drugs in the Berea area and conducted observation duties. Yesterday afternoon, 17 February 2014 at approximately 16:00 they conducted an operation and spotted a Fiat Siena motor vehicle fitting the same description given to them at Bellview Road. The members stopped the vehicle and it was searched. Hydroponic dagga to the street value of R55 000 was recovered. A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs. Investigation led the members to the suspect’s flat at Morningside where drug manufacturing chemicals and magic mushrooms were recovered to the street value of more than R25 000.

“We will continue to ensure that those who are dealing in drugs are caught and arrested,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni. “We appeal to the members of the community to join police in the fight against drugs in our community by providing valuable information to the police that will lead to the arrest of drug dealers,” she added.
