Police arrest a company employee and an accomplice following a Muldersdrift business robbery

Police in Muldersdrift made a breakthrough in arresting a company employee and another following a business robbery in the area where goods worth a substantial amount of money were stolen and a guard was seriously injured on Thursday, 17 April 2014. The suspects aged 23 and 24 were arrested yesterday morning in Thembisa and Spruitview on the East Rand. Goods worth approximately R81 000 were recovered. The suspects are due to appear at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 29 April 2014, on charges of business robbery, possession of suspected stolen property and attempted murder.

It is alleged that on Thursday night at Plot 189, Nooitgedacht, Muldersdrift, a security guard was attacked by a group of unknown suspects. He was assaulted with a hammer on the head and lost consciousness. He woke up in the morning the next day and was assisted by the neighbours who called an ambulance that took him to hospital. Suspects who had entered the company removed several goods worth a substantial amount of money. Police worked around the clock to trace the suspects. On the early hours of Saturday morning two of the suspects were arrested. It is believed that several other suspects are still at large but police are confident that they will be brought to book very soon.

During the arrests, police recovered welding machines, a flat screen television, computers and speakers, a DVD player and amplifiers.

The suspects are still being profiled as they are suspected to have committed other serious crimes.
