Western Cape Police gets tough on members involved in corruption and misuse of state vehicles

Once again the Western Cape Police Management have taken decisive action against four (4) of its members for their involvement in corruption and the misuse of state vehicles. The arrest of the members follows a report by a well-known member of the community from Old Nooiensfontein Kuilsrivier.

The incident took place on the 27 April 2014, at about 23:15, at which time the suspects claimed to have searched the house of the complainant and recovered tik on a runner at the outlet. It is alleged that they then signalled to the complainant to pay them a sum of R1000, 00 in order to avoid being arrested. The actions of the members were also recorded on the CCTV camera installed inside the premises in which the transaction was recorded.

Eventually, the complainant was only able to give them a sum of R800.00 and they left the house without arresting the person. Police investigation positively identified the suspects committing this crime on the video footage. It also revealed that these members were using a state vehicle which was supposed to have been parked.

The members were arrested in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 2014-04-30) and are due to appear at the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court today (2014-04-30). They are stationed in various stations which include Airport, Public Order Policing and Tactical Response Team (TRT).
