A Mazda bakkie that was suspected of being stolen was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in Phoenix – KwaZulu Natal, last night (Wednesday).
While on patrol Reaction Officers noticed the bakkie without a rear number plate and loaded with scrap metal parked in an isolated area. When Officers approached the vehicle they found that it also had no licence disk. A further inspection of the vehicle was conducted and the chassis tags were found to be removed. The driver and the passenger could not explain the discrepancies with the vehicle.
The bakkie was suspected of being stolen and was handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation. The driver and the passenger were taken in for further questioning.
