Police search for suspects after robbery at ATM in Phokeng

The Police are looking for suspects who attempted to steal cash during a botched theft at an ABSA Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in Luka village in Phokeng. The incident occurred at about 03:45 on Monday, 17 March 2014, inside a supermarket in Mokgotlhana Section in Luka.

It is alleged that the criminals broke the wall, cut open two doors before attempting to cut open a safe with a cutting torch. However, the suspects failed to open the safe and fled the scene without taking money. This is the second incident involving an ATM to be reported in the same area since last month.

Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property. No one has been arrested at this stage. Anyone with information that could assist the police in apprehending the suspects should call the SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10 111or sms Crime Line on 32211.
