Jeep Team’s Dylan Rebello and Michael Lord will today be racing against MTB World and National Champions, and some of the top ABSA Cape Epic contenders in the invite-only Aramex Songo.info Champions Race, taking place in Kayamandi, Stellenbosch.

The event, dubbed as the “Unofficial Cross-Country World Championships” forms part of the hype and build-up  to the ABSA Cape Epic, the world’s premier MTB Stage Race, which takes place from 15 to 22 March 2015 in the Western Cape. The starting lineup will see World, Olympic and National MTB stars including multiple world champion Christoph Sauser; Olympic Gold Medalist Jaroslav Kulhavy; World Champions José Hermida and Alban Lakata; and last year’s ABSA Cape Epic winners Robert Menned and Kristian Hynek. The race takes place through the streets of Kayamandi in a bid to raise awareness of songo.info.

Founded by Kayamandi local Songo Fipaza and Swiss MTB world champion, Christoph Sauser, in 2010, songo.info is a Kayamandi-based social development programme that provides sport and educational support to local children.

The Champions Race aims to showcase songo.info’s projects to the local community, South Africa and the world, by getting big names in mountain biking to take part.
