Men arrested after robbing victim of bank card at ATM

Two men have been arrested by Marshall Security after allegedly robbing a victim of their bank card at an ATM in Chris Hani Road, Avoca earlier this morning.

Marshall Security’s Emergency Contact Centre was alerted to the incident just before 11:00. Reports from the scene allege that whilst the victim was attempting to use the ATM, they were approached by two men. The men insisted on assisting the victim to use the ATM and started pushing buttons erratically before ejecting the victim’s bank card and fleeing to an awaiting getaway vehicle.

A description of the vehicle and its registration was circulated to all Marshall Security vehicles in the area and the suspects were spotted traveling north on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, where they were brought to a stop just before the M41 on-ramp.

The men were arrested and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
