Four suspects arrested for Wolseley kidnapping

WESTERN CAPE – The vigilance of Flying Squad and K9 Unit members on patrol in Manenberg late last night led to the arrest of four Somalian suspects for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The four suspects aged 17, 28, 29 and 34 are also detained for a kidnapping of a 31-year-old male who was forcefully removed from a shop in Masibulele Street, Pine Valley in Wolseley on 2019-09-24 at around 20:20.

The members spotted a white Toyota Corolla with four occupants driving without backlights in Govan Mbeki Drive. This prompted them to pull the vehicle over and conduct a search, which led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition. It was discovered that the firearm was stolen in Bellville during August in 2017. Further investigation linked the suspects to the kidnapping which was perpetrated the previous evening.

The victim was traced to Browns Farm where he was found unharmed. The suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Wolseley once they have been charged. The circumstances surrounding the case are under investigation and the motive for the kidnapping is yet to be determined.
