A 55-Year-Old Bound & Gagged During a Robbery at a Home in Lotusville, KZN

A 55-year-old man was bound, gagged and assaulted during a home invasion at his residence on Mimosa Road in Lotusville today (Sunday).

At approximately 15:15 the victim’s relative arrived at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters in Verulam reporting the robbery in progress. Reaction Officers were dispatched to the residence and on arrival found the man gagged with a sock. His hands and legs were bound with a t-shirt and belt.

RUSA Members freed the victim and searched the house for suspects however they had already fled. The victim explained that he was lying on his bed when the robbers entered the house. They threw a blanket over him and began assaulting him. During the assault, the three men questioned him in regards to cash & jewellery. The suspects ransacked the home in search of valuables. They stole the man’s wallet containing R200 in cash before fleeing.

The victim’s nephew drove onto the property and noticed him tied up. He immediately drove to RUSA offices for assistance. The elderly male suffered injuries to his head and face. He was treated on scene by Medics.

Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
