Business robbery suspect arrested in Trenance Park

One of three businesses robbery suspects was apprehended by an employee of a General Dealer in Ntombe – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the store at approximately 10:31. On arrival, it was established that two robbers entered the business under the pretext of purchasing cigarettes while their accomplice remained outside.

One of the suspects inside the store produced a firearm and held up the owner and two of his employees. The owners eight month old daughter was also in the shop at the time. The suspects stole three cellphones and cash before they fled on foot.

An employee pursued the robbers on foot and apprehended one of the men with assistance of the public in Ntombe – KZN. He was assaulted by the community. The male was found in possession of a Samsung cellphone belonging to the owner of the store. He was transported back to the shop by Reaction Officers.

During an interview, the robber informed Reaction Officers that his accomplices fled with the firearms and remainder of the stolen goods.

He was detained at Verulam SAPS for further investigation.
