Stolen iPhone Recovered/Foreign National Arrested: Palmview – KZN

A 27 year old Pakistani national was arrested and a stolen iPhone was recovered in Palmview – KZN a short while ago (Saturday).

A resident of Mount Vernon – KZN contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 11:49 after she discovered that her cellphone was stolen from her residence. The caller informed the Controller On Duty that a suspect had gained entry into her yard and stole her cellphone through a window.

The female tracked her cellphone through the Find My Phone application. It showed its last location on Palmview Drive in Phoenix – KZN. Reaction Officers were dispatched and on arrival found a salon operating at the address. Officers enquired about the cellphone and were initially informed by three (3) Pakistani nationals that an individual attempted selling the stolen cellphone to them, but he left after they refused to purchase it.

The complainant arrived shortly thereafter and was in the process of activating an alarm on the Find My Phone application when one (1) of the males confirmed that he had purchased the phone for R2700 from an Indian female in Palmview – KZN. He concealed it behind hair care products when he arrived at the salon. It was also established that he arrived in South Africa ten (10) years ago from Faisalabad in Pakistani to seek employment.

He and the stolen cellphone were handed over to the Phoenix SAPS Trio Crime Unit for further investigation.
