Fortunate escape from injuries after a fire at a shopping centre on the R55 near Heuweloord in Centurion

On Saturday afternoon at around 17h00, our Centurion crew responded to a building fire at Mall@55 shopping centre on the R55 near Heuweloord in Centurion.

On arrival, smoke was bellowing out from the roof of the building and people were being evacuated by security personnel.

Tshwane fire department and Fidelity ADT Securefire personnel quickly brought the blaze under control and prevented the fire from spreading to other stores.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the fire was contained.

Unfortunately, the blaze caused extensive damage to the Mr. Price store. The exact circumstances that lead up to the fire are not yet clear and an investigation has been launched.
