The Standard Bank Group’s Physical Security and Tactical Operations team, in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS), hosted awareness sessions on ATM-related crimes in Kimberley at the SAPS Gymnasium and Kimberley Greendoors on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.

The engagement brought together key SAPS role players, including members from the Provincial Commercial Crime Unit, Provincial Crime Registrar, Provincial Organised Crime, Frances Baard District Detectives, Kimberley Station Management, Kimberley Commercial Crime Unit, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, Kimberley Detectives, as well as Sector Policing representatives from Frances Baard and Pixley Ka Seme districts.

During the session, SAPS and Standard Bank discussed strengthening partnerships to enhance crime detection and improve conviction rates against criminals targeting ATMs.

SAPS welcomes collaborations of this nature, recognizing that crime prevention cannot be achieved in isolation.

Police continue to maintain visibility at ATM hotspots across the province and remain committed to conducting regular awareness campaigns to protect communities from ATM-related crimes.

The public is urged to report any suspicious activity or ATM-related scams to their nearest police station, the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or via the MySAPS App. All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
