Police officers arrest 16 at warehouse in City Deep

This morning at about 08h24, the Johannesburg Flying Squad and K9 Unit arrested 16 suspects aged between 18 and 35 years for business breaking in City Deep.

It is alleged that the suspects arrived and told the security at the gate that they were there to pick up a consignment. They proceeded to go into the warehouse and started to load about 90 boxes into the two trucks they’ve brought with. Police were alerted to the situation. Whilst they were loading the goods, police arrived and arrested all sixteen suspects.

The consignment of tobacco with an estimated street value of R14 million was recovered. Police seized 11 cellphones belonging to the suspects. Upon searching the trucks, they found 9 packets of dagga in one of the truck’s cockpit.
