Tip-off from public leads to arrest housebreaking suspects, Sunnyside

Gauteng: Sunnyside police officers caught two alleged burglars in the act as they tried to break into a Leyds Street flat yesterday.

The suspects, both 24 and believed to be from Mamelodi, were caught following tip-off from a member of the public, who reportedly witnessed incident.

The police quickly sprung to action immediately after they were called for a housebreaking in progress. Within a few minutes the suspects were cornered while in the process of breaking a door open at the flat.

Sunnyside police commander, Brigadier Wiseman Mthembu, praised the residents for their continued support of the local police.

Both suspects will be charged with burglary. They will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
