A housebreaking incident in Boknesstrand

EASTERN CAPE: Port Alfred Cluster – In the early hours of yesterday morning Warrant Officer Neethling who was off duty was called out from his rest days to attend to housebreaking incidents in Boknesstrand.

He searched for suspects who broke into four houses in the area. Patrol dog Bonzo apprehended one of the suspects when he jumped off a house roof and the second suspect was arrested by WO Neethling on the roof.

Stolen goods were recovered in the pockets of both suspects. The members then searched a large bushy area and recovered stolen handbags, cellphones, wallets, hearing aid of a young man, wrist watches, backpacks and external hard drive scattered in the bush where suspects guarding the valuables fled.

The value of goods recovered estimated at R52 200-00.

Suspects aged 30 and 26 were arrested and detained on four housebreaking cases. One of the suspects was released on parole last month for housebreaking in the same area, committed in 2014. The suspect was released on parole after serving two years of his 3-year sentence and also has 3 cases pending.

The suspects will appear in the Alexandria Magistrates Court soon.
