Braai with the stars, at the Rand Show’s celebrity braai competitions
This year, you can combine two great South African family traditions … out with the kids enjoying all the entertainment and fun the Rand Show has to offer and savouring the smell of braai smoke and sizzling meat.
Come and braai with the celebs at the Rand Show, in the Jimmy’s Steakhouse Sauces Celeb Braai Competition.
The Rand Show is all about giving you great ways to spend time with your family. And what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than around the braai? Sizzling wors, cold beer, good friends … made even better with a splash of Jimmy’s Steakhouse Sauces and the company of some of your favourite TV personalities.
The Webers will be standing ready at the Esplanade stage on both Saturdays of the Rand Show, for a celebrity braai-off that will make your mouth water.
Singer and GROOTfm 90.5 presenter Riaan Grobler takes the mike as master of ceremonies, making sure nobody hogs the braai spice. He’ll also pick four lucky members of the audience to come up and braai with the celebs.
Over the Easter weekend, on Saturday 15 April from 2 pm to 4 pm, four kykNET stars will wield the braai tongs. Jocelyn Broderick and David Louw, “Nina” and “Simon” from Getroud Met Rugby will be there, along with Germandt Geldenhuys and Je-Ani Swiegelaar, better known to Binnelanders fans as “Louis” and “Sister Naomi”.
On the closing weekend, Saturday 22 April, from 2 pm to 4 pm, the tongs pass to actresses Phindile Zwane and Tinah Mnumzana, “Dimpho” and “Dikeledi” from e.tv’s Gold Diggers, while the boys are represented by actors from SABC 2’s 7de Laan: Markus Haywood who plays “Willem Spies”, and Andre Lotter, who plays “Rickus”.
It’s going to be a jol, like everything else at this year’s Rand Show. That’s because the Rand Show is not just another expo. As South Africa’s biggest consumer expo, it’s the only show to offer attractions to delight both young and old, covering everything from sport, motoring, military, and science and technology, to design, animals, gardening, health and beauty, and variety shows … there’s an entire day out for the whole family packed into each Rand Show ticket.

WHEN, WHERE, HOW MUCH?
The Rand Show runs from Friday, 14 April to Sunday, 23 April 2017, from 9 am to 7 pm (last entry at 6 pm), at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec (GPS – S26°14.484’ E27°58.510). There is ample secure paid parking at the venue, with visible policing.
Rand Show tickets at the gate cost R150 for adults, R50 for pensioners, R50 for 13-16 years, R20 for 6-12 years, and under six enter free. Midweek specials for Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 April only are R75 for adults, and R20 for 13-16-year-olds. Open-air parking is R20 per car. Tickets are available at the gate or through Computicket.
Tickets give access to a wide variety of entertainment attractions but exclude rides on the helicopter and monorail, drifting, bag jumping, the fun fair, and refreshments and food.
