Card cloning suspect arrested

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa after he was found in possession of several cloned bank cards at a business premise on Ireland Street in the Verulam CBD today.

Reaction Officers were called out to the store by employees after the suspect attempted to make a payment with the card. Upon arrival store management informed Officers that the bank had verified their suspicions and confirmed that the card was cloned.

During an interview the suspect claimed that he was dropped off at the store by a friend, however, a set of VW keys was found in his possession. A search of the parking was conducted and a VW Golf was found on the property. The keys were used to open the vehicle and several other cloned bank cards were recovered in the car.

The suspect was placed under arrest and is currently detained at the Verulam SAPS.
