Police arrested six suspects for possession of suspected stolen goods and unlicensed firearms

The Police arrested six (6) suspects for possession of suspected stolen goods and unlicensed firearms at Corner Mooi and Jeppe Streets in Johannesburg.

The goods are suspected to have been stolen during a business robbery that took place at Johannesburg Edgars Store on Thursday, 22 February 2018, where about 6 (six) armed suspects are alleged to have made off with at least one hundred (100) cellphones to the value of R170 000.

Furthermore, SAPS in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies conducted intelligence-led operations in various parts of the province. The operations included stop and search, raiding of illegal liquor outlets, tracing of wanted suspects, roadblocks.

It is during these operations that suspects were arrested for crime ranging from possession of stolen vehicle, murder, rape, theft, assault, possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of goods suspected to be stolen and fraud.

All the arrested suspects will appear at different magistrate courts soon.
