Goodyear South Africa has a new home

As Goodyear celebrates ‘120 Years of Innovation’ in 2018, the South Africa entity also celebrates moving to its new Head Office at the Hertford Office Park in Midrand. Goodyear South Africa has consolidated its Johannesburg based offices to support the Company’s business strategy of business simplification, increased efficiencies and enabling effective employee engagement.

A great deal of thought has gone into the design and layout of the new offices. A specific interior design scheme was implemented to create an ergonomic and attractive work space, that cultivates creativity and collaboration. The open plan design is essential for letting natural light into the workspace, creating a refreshing and energising work environment. Furthermore, the building is an eco-friendly facility that has all the features of a green star building such as energy efficient lighting; energy efficient air conditioning; back-up water and power supply.

“This move has contributed to Goodyear South Africa having a lean, agile operation that enables our ‘One Team’ strategic principles and behaviours. Our employees are core in creating an agile and innovative organisation that sets the technology and performance standard for the fast-paced, dynamic industry we operate in. The consolidation of our Johannesburg based offices into this new office location, provides an empowering environment for our teams to continue working together in creating products and services that contribute to memorable experiences for vehicle and truck owners in every corner of Africa,” stated Darren Hayes-Powell, Group Managing Director for Goodyear South Africa and Sub-Sharan Africa.

The offices that have now found a new home at the Hertford Office Park include Trentyre staff who were based in Germiston, Goodyear Group Managing Director, Goodyear Sub-Saharan Africa team and support staff who were based at the International Business Gateway in Midrand, as well the Consumer Sales Team that was based at Hi-Q Head Office in Spartan. The Hi-Q Head Office will soon be moving to the Motor City at Waterfall in Midrand, which will be in close proximity to the new Goodyear South Africa offices.

“As Goodyear, we remain committed to providing innovative solutions to all our customers around Africa. Our recent investment of close to R1 Billion into our manufacturing facility in Uitenhage which brought in state-of-the-art machinery has aligned our production capability and capacity with market demand. The growing demand from the truck and fleet sector in South Africa, saw us invest in Trentyre in 2017 by introducing FleetFirst. This is a one-stop service solution that offers customers comprehensive range of fleet efficiency services that are built around customer needs. In April this year, we were proud to be part of the official opening of Hi-Q Bryanston at Grosvenor Crossing which expresses Hi-Q’s new and exciting customer focussed concept store.

Over the years, we have made consistent efforts to ensure that the Goodyear brand continues to grow within South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. The move to a new and consolidated office location provides us with improved speed to market, as well as faster decision making between our business teams and support functions. All these investments are in line with our business imperatives and expresses our commitment to grow in Africa, both in developing our local talent as well as our capabilities to support our customers,” concluded Hayes-Powell.
