Three suspects arrested at Boksburg North with drugs worth an estimated R3 million

Members from the multi-disciplinary narcotics unit of O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) arrested three suspects last night in Boksburg North after they were found in possession of drugs to the value of approximately R3 million.

During an intelligence driven operation, the multi-disciplinary narcotics team at ORTIA responded to information of suspects who were transporting drugs from the airport to an unknown destination.

The suspects were identified and the sedan they were travelling in was followed by members of ORTIA K9 Unit until Boksburg North where they stopped it.

The vehicle was searched and police found white powdery substance suspected to be heroin. This substance will be sent to the SAPS Forensic laboratory for further testing.

The suspects will be appearing in the Boksburg Magistrates court facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs soon.  Great collaboration between the stakeholders at the airport and land side has once again paid off.
