Volkswagen Financial Services to appeal decision of National Consumer Tribunal

Volkswagen Financial Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd (“VWFS”) acknowledges the Order by the National Consumer Tribunal (“Tribunal”). VWFS has taken external legal advice and the legal team has informed them that it has good prospects of success on appeal.

As a result, VWFS has noted an appeal against the Order.  The noting of the appeal will suspend the Order of the Tribunal and VWFS will not be making any refunds until the appeal is finalised.

Important Notes:

• The order issued by the NCT is directed towards Volkswagen Financial Services South Africa (VWFS);
• VWFS is a separate legal entity from Volkswagen South Africa;
• VWFS holds a different view on the interpretation of the provisions of the National Credit Act;
• VWFS was established in South Africa in 2013.
