Husband in custody following kidnapping and murder

DURBAN – On 16 April 2020, the Nkandla detectives followed up information with regards to a suspect who was wanted for the kidnapping and murder of his wife who was hiding at Witbank in Mpumalanga province.

The team proceeded to the identified location where the 42-year-old man was arrested whilst trying to flee out of the country. Further information led police to Ndindindi in Nqutu where two more suspects aged 32 and 42 were arrested on the following day. One of the suspects is a local traditional healer. They are set to appear in the Nkandla Magistrates Court on Monday, 20 April 2020 on charges of murder and kidnapping.

It is alleged that on 17 February 2020, a school teacher, Makhosazana Ngcobo (41) was allegedly kidnapped and her body was later found with a head injury near the road at Thalaneni Reserve. A case of murder was opened and the alleged suspect disappeared from the area after the incident. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the court.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula applauded the team of detectives for the arrest of the wanted suspect and his accomplices.
