MEC Ntuli clamps down on blatant disregard of COVID-19 lockdown regulations in Isiphingo

In a bid to tighten law enforcement measures and curtail the further spread of Covid-19, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Bheki Ntuli, accompanied by eThekwini Municipality Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda and Provincial Police Commissioner, Khombinkosi Jula, visited the Isiphingo CBD today to assess adherence to the Disaster Management Regulations.

This follows complaints and social media videos that have gone viral showing blatant disregard for social distancing and lockdown regulations despite concerns that the eThekwini Metro is the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the intensified law enforcement operations in eThekwini, a total of 418 people have been arrested in Isiphingo for various contraventions of the lockdown regulations including failing to confine to the residence.
