Business robbery suspect killed and others arrested after shootout in Pretoria East

Brinant received the alert via a community WhatsAPP group of an armed robbery at a cell phone shop in Pretoria East. The Brinant senior armed response officer intercepted the 4-armed robbers on the corner of Atterbury-and Jacqueline drive and started to pursue the vehicle.

The chase led to a cul-de-sac where the 4 suspects opened fire on the Brinant officer. The Brinant officer returned fire and one suspect was injured. After a brief exchange of fire, the suspects fled in different directions.

A Bull armed response officer pursued the suspect that fled into the nearby bushes where Brinant gave back-up. The suspect opened fire on the responding officers.

The remainder of the suspects fled into 2 different complexes where they were later apprehended and detained by Fidelity ADT as well as Brinant security.

All suspects were apprehended, detained and handed over to SAPS to make the arrests. 1 Suspect was declared dead on the scene and the other seriously injured. No response officers were injured.
