Suspects behind bars for possession of suspected stolen property

Johannesburg Central Detectives arrested two suspects aged 24 and 25 for possession of suspected stolen property at corner Plein and Small Streets on the 19th of April 2021 at 16:00.

Police received a tip off about a shop buying and selling stolen cellphones and laptops. Detectives operationalised the information and recovered six laptops and eight cellphones. The suspects failed to produce papers for those items.

They were also charged with Immigration Act after failing to produce valid papers to be in the country.

Investigation is underway and the suspects will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.

Johannesburg Central Station Commander Brigadier Perumal commended the good working relationship between the police and the community. He elaborated further that by closing the market where stolen items are being sold we will reduce theft and robberies where suspects target cellphones and laptops. Buying stolen items is also a crime.
