Be extra cautious when driving in areas of protests and criminal activity

The Arrive Alive website received the following message:

“Cape Town N2 freeway becomes an absolutely dangerous road to travel on at night.

Law Enforcement offices avoid disastrous consequences for motorists, by removing a bakkie load of rocks placed on the freeway, N2 / R300 (Khayelitsha) & Borcherds Quarry Nyanga – Barcelona squatter camp).”

As if road users do not have enough challenges sharing roads daily with irresponsible road users, they are also challenged by criminals placing stones and sharp objects on the road surface. This increases not only the risk of road crashes but also of becoming the victim of other crimes such as robbery, assault and murder.  It also makes driving at night extremely dangerous!

We would like to share some safety advice on how to drive defensively in these situations.
