Amajuba Anti-Stock Theft Unit recovers 198 stolen sheep

Between 20 and 21 February 2022, a total of 220 sheep were stolen from a farm in Groenvlei. The sheep were allegedly taken out of the grazing camp by unknown suspects. A case of stock theft was opened for investigation by Groenvlei SAPS.

On 22 February 2022, the Amajuba Anti-Stock Theft Unit police officers acted on information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen sheep. The information led the team to different areas at Utrecht where 198 sheep were recovered. The recovered sheep are valued at R495 000. The sheep were handed back to the lawful owner. Police are still searching for the remaining sheep and the suspects.
