Global trading powerhouse Scope Markets ramps up its presence in SA, taps into opportunities for global investment

Scope Markets*, a globally licensed securities broker, is ramping up its presence in South Africa and globally looking to bridge the gap in the wealth management industry by bringing innovative, alternative investment opportunities to local investors. As the lead sponsor of the Finance Magnates Africa Summit (FMAS:23), taking place from 8 – 10 May, Scope Markets will share how South African traders can leverage new opportunities and increase wealth.

In recent years, the company has seen increased demand from the South African market, specifically from private investors who are actively seeking more choice when it comes to the investment opportunities they can access.

“However, the local wealth management industry currently under-utilises alternative investments, creating a significant knowledge gap and a great market opportunity,” says Daniel Lawrance, CEO Scope Prime.

“This is largely due to a lack of innovation and knowledge when it comes to alternative assets and limited regulatory support, but this is changing with traders now able to diversify their portfolios across multiple instruments and asset classes, providing the potential for higher returns.”

Given the evolution in the South African wealth management industry over the last 20 years, there’s plenty of scope to disrupt the market on technology, price and product.

“Additionally, South Africa’s Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) is considered a tier 1 global regulator and is supportive of crypto assets,” says Lawrance. adding that overseas investment has slowed as many international brokerages lack local infrastructure and over-the-counter derivative product (ODP) licences that have opened the local market to alternative investment opportunities.

Established in 1997, Scope Markets Ltd now offers institutional and retail trading services to clients worldwide. The company’s footprint includes a presence in London, United Kingdom; Nairobi, Kenya; Limassol, Cyprus and now also in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“Our management team has significant experience of the financial services industry both in South Africa and across the globe. We are proud of the many solid partnerships that we’ve built over the years. Whether it’s a business or individual, Scope Markets has a wide range of trading and liquidity solutions that are compliant, flexible, cost-efficient, innovative and place the client first,” says James Hughes, Group Head of Marketing at Scope Markets.

Scope Markets’ well-established and reputable online brokerage includes a wide range of products and services for traders of all levels, providing a powerful and user-friendly trading platform, competitive spreads, fast execution, advanced charting and analysis tools, a wide range of educational resources and excellent customer service.
