Arson suspected in a house fire in Waterloo
A house on Flower Road in Waterloo – KZN was extensively damaged after it was allegedly petrol bombed during the early hours of this morning.
The homeowner informed members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) who arrived on scene at approximately 01:08, that the suspect was known to him. He further explained that he earlier asked the man to purchase alcohol for him.
After he failed to return, he tracked the man and assaulted him for spending the money instead of purchasing the alcohol.
He believed that the male petrol bombed his home in retaliation for the assault.
Neighbours assisted the victim to extinguish the blaze prior to the arrival of First Responders.
The suspect could not be immediately located by Reaction Officers.
