Limpopo Anti-Smuggling Task Team intercepts stolen vehicle en route to Beitbridge Port of Entry
A collaborative intelligence-driven operation conducted on Sunday, 15 June 2025, led to the successful recovery of a stolen motor vehicle and the arrest of a suspect believed to be part of a vehicle smuggling syndicate.
The Anti-Smuggling Task Team, in conjunction with external security forces including Shadowsecure, Tshimollo Security and Investigation, Tracker SA, and Limpopo Tracker Response Security, responded swiftly after receiving intelligence regarding a white Toyota Corolla Cross suspected to have been stolen in Gauteng and en route to Beitbridge Port of Entry.
The vehicle was intercepted while traveling along the N1 near Shell Ultra City, just outside Polokwane. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in the Lyttelton policing area, Pretoria, on Friday, 13 June 2025.
A 40-year-old South African male was arrested at the scene. A case of possession of suspected stolen property has been opened at SAPS Westenburg, and the suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 17 June 2025.
