Stolen goods recovered, suspect arrested after housebreaking in Malvern

A joint operation by Chatsworth Cluster Task, Chatsworth Cluster Crime Intelligence and SAP Malvern House Breaking unit yielded positive result when they arrested a 21-year-suspect in connection with the housebreakings in The Anderson Road and surrounding areas in Malvern. The members acted on intelligence and swooped on the suspect who was selling the stolen goods at the Shallcross Shopping centre. When the suspect saw the members he tried to flee but was quickly apprehended.

On further investigation, the suspect pointed out where he had sold the stolen goods.  A cellphones, I-pads, laptops and other electronic goods were recovered from him and his buyers. The recovered property was positively identified by the complainants from the Malvern area. The perpetrators who bought the stolen goods were charged for being in possession of stolen property .

The suspect was also  linked to other house breaking cases in Malvern after he was positively identified by the victims and is expected to appear in court soon.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the police for their hard work and cautioned the public against buying property suspected to be stolen as this can result in them being arrested and charged.
