IMPERIAL and Lindsay Saker help Soul Food bring food to less privileged

Soul Food picture 1IMPERIAL, through Lindsay Saker, has agreed to a major new sponsorship of Soul Food, a project of the Soul Provider Trust.

Through the Soul Food project, surplus food from hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and manufacturers is collected and delivered free of charge to orphanages, old age homes, shelters, schools and hospitals in the projects operating regions.

Rob Truscott, Managing Director of IMPERIAL Auto, Passenger Vehicles, is delighted to sponsor the Soul Food Trucks through the Lindsay Saker dealership. “IMPERIAL Auto will be donating two  new Volkswagen Caddies to the Soul Food project, one for their Johannesburg branch and one for their  branch in Bloemfontein, which will be used to ensure they are able to continue their good work.”

In addition to the vehicle donation, IMPERIAL Auto has also made a substantial cash donation, which will be used to help cover the salaries of drivers, vehicle insurance, fuel, tracking, tolls and all the other expenses associated with running a Soul Food operation.

Rev. Brent Chalmers, Managing Trustee of The Soul Provider Trust, is overwhelmed by the generous donation made to his project. “I want to thank IMPERIAL Auto and Lindsay Saker and of course extend our thanks to its shareholders, directors, staff and customers for this wonderful intervention.  Their support will ensure that food is not wasted, but handed to those who need it the most.”

Through IMPERIAL Auto and Lindsay Saker’s assistance, the sponsorship will bring the total of Soul Food operations to four, which operate in: Gauteng, East Rand, KZN and Free State.

Truscott concludes: “I am pleased we could be a part of the Soul Food initiative, as there truly is nothing more rewarding than knowing we have played a part in helping  those that are less fortunate.”
