The countdown has officially begun!

The Insurance Apprentice, one of the most talked about initiatives in the insurance industry, is set to take heed once again as entries for its 2019 edition are almost closing.
We remind those who have not applied yet to hurry and get those applications in as entries close on 31 August. That leaves potential candidates with just over a week left.
Once entries close

Once applications close on 31 August, and the top forty candidates are identified, regional rounds, sponsored by Price Forbes, will take place during September in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. If you have been chosen to go through to the second round, you will be notified mid-September.

For those candidates that make it through to the second round, elimination dates are as follows:
• Durban 17 September;
• Cape Town 18 September; and
• Johannesburg 25 September

After the elimination rounds in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban eight apprentices for series five of The Insurance Apprentice will be revealed at the end of October. Filming will take place early January 2019. The series will be aired early 2019 via the FAnews and The Insurance Apprentice websites, YouTube and Facebook.

Don’t waste time

Don’t wait until the last minute to apply. If you think you have what it takes to be the next Insurance Apprentice, then why not take a chance and apply. If you meet the criteria – you are younger than 35, have been in the short term insurance industry for more than four years and hold a short term insurance qualification – visit http://theinsuranceapprentice.co.za/apply2019/, fill out your application form and submit it.
We also urge managers/companies to identify the people they believe can make it and push them to apply. Let’s get all those young talented professionals to apply. Previous TIA contestants (and especially the winners) are really keen to assist with guidance and are available to come and chat at companies if they have identified a group of people. They are also very keen to have one on one communication with people who are sitting on the fence undecided on whether to enter or not. Please get in touch if you have this need.
The awesome prizes

If we haven’t convinced you yet we remind you that in addition to promoting and recognising talent, the exposure provided by The Insurance Apprentice is immeasurable. As many of the previous contestants will agree, The Insurance Apprentice gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself, to grow on a personal and professional level and showcase what you are all about… and all of a sudden, you are a lot more recognized within your own company.
And then… there are the awesome prizes.

All eight finalists will receive a Samsung tablet with a wireless keyboard (sponsored by Masifunde Training Centre), a R1000 Uber voucher (sponsored by Discovery), a book ‘Everything you need to know about non-life insurance in South Africa’, written and sponsored by Gareth Stokes and Liz Still, and amazing business/motivational books sponsored by Insure Group Managers. And guess what… we still have more to come!
The winner wins a trip to Lloyds of London, a R75 000 bursary from Inseta and a cash prize of R20 000 from Masifunde Training Centre. It’s a no brainer… next level growth and awesome prizes.
The runner up will receive R15 000 cash, sponsored by Tracker.
Exciting new developments #nextlevel

To get viewers involved, during the competition (filming week), we will have a #superfan prize giveaway. During each episode a specific question will be asked and the #superfan will be the person who answers these correctly. The #superfan will be invited to the event where the winner is announced and will receive a R20 000 cash prize. This person can be inside or outside of the industry – we are after all trying to showcase our industry to all walks of life.
Another exciting development for our viewers is that Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours will be attached to episodes going forward. Focused on each task at the end of every episode, there could be questions asked with a CPD concept for readers/viewers.
We also know there is a winner hiding away somewhere in one of the regions outside of Johannesburg and that is why we are challenging the regions to really get involved in nominating and pushing people to take part. This is the #TIA2019regionalclash.
