Cellphones to the value of R 2 000 000 recovered

 A total of four suspects aged between 26 and 32 years were arrested by Mthatha police in Ngangelizwe today, 26 December 2018 at about 03h30.

They were arrested following a business burglary at York Road, Jet stores today at about 01h00 where a number of cell phones were stolen. The arrest follows intensive investigations during which police acted on information and proceed to a house where the suspects were subsequently arrested. Cell phones to the estimated value of R2 000 000 an amount of cash R11 000 and electric appliances were recovered and confiscated. Their Toyota and an Isuzu bakkies that were used during the commission of crime were also confiscated.

Further profiling of the suspects will be conducted in order to establish if they can be linked to a number of Couriers’ hijackings where boxes of cell phones were allegedly robbed and also business robberies.

“Once we link them we will solve quite a number of cases. A manhunt is still underway for two accomplices who managed to evade arrest. “We want to warn the two suspects that managed to flee, that you can run but you cannot hide from the long arm of the law. Said the Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Asogran Naidoo.
