Burglary suspect apprehended in Riet River

The 39 year old man (pictured) was apprehended for the second time within a week by members of Reaction Unit South Africa with stolen goods that were taken during two separate house break-ins.

On Friday the 28/12/2018 RUSA received a called from a resident of Candis Drive in Parkgate – Verulam requesting assistance after his laptop was stolen through an open window. The incident was captured on CCTV.

Reaction Officers tracked the suspect and upon his apprehension he informed Officers that he had handed the stolen laptop to an Indian male in Riet River. Officers proceeded to his residence and recovered the stolen item. The suspects were released after the owner refused to register criminal cases against the two.

Today (Wednesday) RUSA was contacted by a man who was contracted to tile a residence in Rag Palm Gardens in Palmview – Phoenix. He explained that his tile cutter and several gallons of paint were stolen from the house he was employed to tile.

He further explained that he was contacted by a man living in Riet River selling a tile cutter. He proceeded to the residence and confirmed that the tile cutter belonged to him. He then contacted RUSA for assistance to recover the stolen goods.

Reaction Officers proceeded to the residence and upon arrival the stolen tile cutter, paint brushes & trays and one gallon of paint was recovered from the same suspect who was in possession of the stolen laptop last week.

The suspect claimed that the items were stolen by drug addicts and he was asked to sell the stolen goods for them.
