House breaker nabbed by an off duty police official: Cradock

During the early hours of this morning an off duty police official, Sergeant Moses Brown was woken up by an alarm which repeatedly went off downstairs, at a furniture shop in the CBD, premises adjacent to his living quarters.

On further investigation he heard someone tampering with the front door of his flatlet. When he opened the door he saw two males running in the direction of the inside courtyard of the building. Sergeant Brown managed to lock them inside the courtyard and waited for back up to arrive.
A 33-year-old male was apprehended and arrested while the other male managed to escape.

On further investigation it was discovered that the furniture shop was broken into and the following items were recovered, a 32 inch Sansui television set valued at R3199.00, a 49-inch television set valued at R6999.00, a 55-inch television set valued at R8499.00 and R 700 cash.
More arrest is expected. The suspect is detained on charges of Housebreaking and Theft and will appear in the Cradock Magistrate court soon.

The Cluster Commander, Brigadier Madoda Zamkana congratulated Sergeant Brown on “his swift response and diligence which led to the successful arrest of this perpetrator.
