Showcasing over 100 brands, Africa’s largest Photo & Video event set to wow visitors with interactive experiences, live action and exciting demos

Taking place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 26-28 July 2019, Messe Frankfurt South Africa, organisers of the all-new Photo & Video Experience, are excited to open the doors to an imaging wonderland for all photo and video enthusiasts.

With more than 100 brands participating at the event, including Fujifilm, Sony, Godox, DDS, Tudortech and South Africa’s largest photographic retailer; Outdoorphoto, to name a few, there will be tons of products, special offers and all the latest technologies on display.

Industry leaders Canon have indicated that they will be using the occasion to highlight their smart imaging solutions in particular. Visitors to their stand will also be able to engage with some of the other stars in Canon’s camera and video product ranges, as well as their inkjet printers.

“We have a stellar line-up of local and international speakers who will be sharing their expertise across four workshop stages,” says Joshua Low, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt South Africa. “We’ve developed a comprehensive programme that caters for all levels of photographers and videographers wanting to hone their skills, learn new styles and techniques or simply expand their knowledge,” he adds.

Apart from the 3-day workshop programme, visitors to the show will be able to test camera equipment and accessories through various interactive zones. There will be fashion shows by leading designers such as David Tlale, Biji LaMaison, Marianne Fassler, Hendrik Vermeulen, Spero Villioti and more. Expect activations on the dynamic Kyalami Track by Lamborghini where action photographers can put their skills to the test. There will be green screens, lighting concepts and a dragon drifting-car showcase, as well as a very unique opportunity to capture colour in motion and magical upshots in the Godox Splash of Colour zone.

“We are focused on delivering a unique and unparalleled platform that promotes the industry and leaves visitors inspired. We cannot ignore the rise of social media photography and videography and want to ensure an all-encompassing event for all imaging enthusiasts to enjoy,” adds Low.

Earlier this year, the event organisers launched a Photo of the Year competition. The competition comprised of six categories including Wildlife, Nature, Fashion, Wedding, Creative and an open category for images taken with a smartphone. The competition was open to hobbyists, professionals and smartphone users.

“With over 150 entries received, we are so pleased with the quality of work that was submitted. We know that it could not have been easy for the judges,” says Melissa Bender, Head of Marketing at Messe Frankfurt South Africa. “We especially thank the Photographic Society of South Africa who supported the launch of this competition and facilitated the judging,” she adds.

The independent judging saw 3 finalists per category, whose work will be on display at the event. The winning images will be announced on Sunday 28 July 2019.

Other exciting prizes and the winning draw will be taking place at the event where visitors stand a chance to win cameras from Canon, Fujifilm and Sony. Besides the exclusive show specials offered by exhibitors, there will also be opportunities to win accessories, courses and exclusive merchandise.
