New Tiger Wheel & Tyre Campaign Celebrates Tyres that are “Best in the Wet”

There’s a wonderfully descriptive Afrikaans expression, “Goedkoop is duurkoop”, meaning that cheap goods will cost you more in the long run. Nowhere is this truer than with tyres, cautions Tiger Wheel & Tyre. While a budget tyre might do a reasonable job under ordinary driving conditions, the retailer points out that wet weather conditions will quickly sort the good from the just okay.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre’s new “Best in the Wet” promotional campaign celebrates the tyres that go the extra mile in terms of performance, road holding and safety in wet conditions. From 24 October to 17 November 2019, you can get your hands on these premium performers at outstanding prices.

So why spend a little more for premium tyres? In a word, safety. Big brands like Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook and Michelin – all of which are featured in the “Best in the Wet” campaign – collectively spend millions of dollars on research and development each year. The result of this and hundreds of thousands of hours of tyre testing delivers these results:

Superior rubber compounds that offer improved grip on even wet surfaces.
Tyre tread patterns designed to achieve the optimal balance between performance and safety; offering maximum water evacuation, increased traction and resistance to aquaplaning, and shorter braking distances in the wet.
That said, Tiger Wheel & Tyre reminds motorists that even the best tyres wear out and that a tyre which is below or approaching the minimum tread depth will have diminished braking capability while tyres at or below the minimum may present a significant aquaplaning risk. Recent wet testing by the German magazine Auto Bild demonstrated this very convincingly. Using brand new Continental tyres, and braking from 80 km/h, the test driver was able to stop the car in 29.58 metres driving on premium tyres and 38.02 metres driving on budget tyres.*

It’s clear that there should be no compromise when it comes to purchasing tyres equal to the task of dealing with not just everyday driving conditions, but also extraordinary wet conditions that challenge them to the maximum.
