Security officer shot and robbed of firearm in Maidstone
A Security Officer is in a serious condition after he was shot during a robbery on Walter Reid Road in Maidstone, Tongaat a short while ago.
At approximately 09:14 Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from the director of a private security company based in Tongaat requesting assistance for one of his employees who was shot at a business complex.
On arrival at the scene, the seriously injured man was receiving medical attention from Paramedics before he was flown to a hospital in a specially equipped medical helicopter.
It is alleged that shortly after exiting his vehicle the Security Officer was accosted by two men. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm and shot the Response Officer in the chest without warning before they robbed him of his 9mm Browning pistol. The suspects then fled on foot.
An extensive search was conducted for the gunmen however no arrests were made.
