Gauteng: Police recover hijacked vehicle and firearms

BRIXTON – Police were on patrol on Sunday 10 November 2019 in Brixton when they spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in a cul de sac. An immediate investigation confirmed that the registration plates were false and that the vehicle, a Fortuner, had been hijacked as per case reported at Parkview earlier this month. On inspection of the vehicle, police found four firearms – two rifles and two handguns with magazines and ammunition.

No suspects were arrested as there were no occupants in the vehicle.

The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing as police suspect they could have been used during the commission of a serious and violent crime.
