Mitsubishi help conquer IMPI fears
Driving any Mitsubishi vehicle, especially the Eclipse Cross, Triton and Pajero Sport, the driver is not only stronger than an IMPI, but more agile and safer.
However, when it comes to the IMPI Challenge, Mitsubishi vehicles will be available in a supporting capacity for challengers and make sure the organisers, officials, safety officers and emergency personnel get to where they need to be.
“The exciting IMPI Challenge sponsorship is now in its 6th year and we have again stepped up as event transport sponsors to support the event staff in all their transport needs,” says Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.
The exciting 2019 event will be held at the foot of the picturesque Magaliesberg, a mountain series older than Everest. These mountains, formerly known as the Cashan Mountains, stretch for over 120 kilometres all the way to Pretoria, separating the highveld grasslands to the south from the bushveld savannah of the north.
The IMPI Challenge will be hosted at Van Gaalens Kaasmaakerij next to Hartbeespoort Dam and is the biggest social challenge on the adventure calendar. The event does not only offer great fun but is also a very challenging test of human ability.
The route is designed for adventure athletes of all shapes and sizes, while the event offers families, friends and other supporters a unique opportunity to enjoy an amazing day together. The IMPI Challenge and IMPI Dash routes differ only in distance but offer the same level of obstacles – hard to overcome (not for the Mitsubishi fleet, though!) but as with life in general, completely do-able.
Similar to the prowess of Mitsubishi Motors’ fleet of adventure lifestyle vehicles, participants in the IMPI Challenge need to able to at least walk the indicated course distance comfortably without compromising their health. Challenges include swimming and climbing, so participants need to be prepared to exert themselves.
“As the IMPI Challenge is a spectator-friendly event, family members and friends are welcome to experience the day and watch their corporate families on the spectator route,” says Campbell.
Pieter du Plessis, IMPI Challenge Race Director, says the IMPI Challenge had a magnificent 2019 so far after the first two events this year. “Entrants were challenged, victories were enjoyed, and friendships were made,” says Du Plessis.
“We look forward to building on the energy at Van Gaalens before the final event of the year in Stellenbosch. Without letting the cat out of the bag, IMPI Warriors can look forward to spectacular trail running combined with adrenaline-pumping obstacles that will require crawling, swinging, climbing, jumping – just about everything fun. It’s not the IMPI Challenge if you’re not challenged at some point.”
The Challenge Entry package costs R400 per entry and is for the 10-12km route with 18 obstacles. Each finisher/finishing team member will receive an official team finisher photo.
The Dash Entry package costs R300 per entry for the 5 km route with 12 obstacles. Each finisher/finishing team member will also receive an official team finishers photo.
