Suspect found in possession of endangered species find himself behind bars
Man in his 50’s behind bars subsequent to be found in possession of 9 tortoise babies, lizard skin and Springbok horns.
The suspect was searched while hitchhiking at a hiking spot on N14 in Kuruman, hence found in possession of endangered species. The suspect told the police upon questioning that he was enroute to Lesotho. He is expected to appear before the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 December 2019 on a charge of possession of endangered species.
The Cluster Commander of the John Taolo Gaetsewe, Maj Gen Johan Bean applauded members of the Kimberley Highway Patrol for their vigilance which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
